It is important that a cleaning program is introduced to ensure office buildings are kept clean, reduce micro-organisms and help prevent the spread of disease.
Many companies will employ their own in-house cleaners but with a competitive contract office cleaning market outsourcing this service to a specialist contractor is usually the preferred option.
Firstly before inviting companies to tender for your cleaning services a cleaning specification should be produced detailing the areas to be cleaned and frequency of cleaning. This can then be added to the tender document.
Cleaning operatives should be trained trained to a minimum standard of BICSc Stage1. This is the industry standard qualification for cleaning of office buildings. Ensure this is a requirement during the tender process as this may cause future problems with poor safety awareness and cleaning standards if not included.
Control measures to reduce the risks to cleaning operatives and office building users from carrying out cleaning operations on site should be introduced at local level.
